Clarent is a global provider of softswitch, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solutions and legacy voice/data convergence for service providers to deliver IP telephony services to end user customers.

Clarent solutions enable interconnection among communications service providers' disparate networks and foster the creation of global footprints for more than 300 telecom service providers worldwide, including AT&T, NTT and China Telecom.

The company went IPO in 1999 (NASDAQ:CLRN), and was acquired by Verso Technologies (NASDAQ:VRSO) in 2002.
